Football Isn't the Only Sport and Topic in the World! Part 1

I am patiently waiting for the fall so I can blog about football... Countdowns, watching continuous recaps and highlights! Well my friends keep telling me "You need to watch basketball!" So I have started following basketball a bit more now.

The series is tied 1-1... like last year (I watched the finals last year... coworkers made me)...
Will it be a repeat of last years finals? Will the spurs get thrown off by the Heats defense? Will Lebron James remain King of the NBA? All your questions will be answered tonight on ABC and various other channels!

Who do you think will win tonight?

PW Opinion 1 - Michael Sam

The Story

So we've all heard by now that N.F.L prospect Michael Sam came out publicly that he's gay. If you haven't, here's the story:

Coaches at the University of Missouri divided players into small groups at a preseason football practice last year for a team-building exercise. One by one, players were asked to talk about themselves — where they grew up, why they chose Missouri and what others might not know about them.
As Michael Sam, a defensive lineman, began to speak, he balled up a piece of paper in his hands. “I’m gay,” he said. With that, Mr. Sam set himself on a path to become the first publicly gay player in the National Football League.
“I looked in their eyes, and they just started shaking their heads — like, finally, he came out,” Mr. Sam said Sunday in an interview with The New York Times, the first time he had spoken publicly about his sexual orientation.
Mr. Sam, a senior who was listed at 6 feet 2 inches and 260 pounds, had a stellar season as Missouri finished 12-2 and won the Cotton Bowl. He was a first-team all-American and was named the Associated Press defensive player of the year in the Southeastern Conference, widely considered the top league in college football. Teammates voted him Missouri’s most valuable player.

P.W. Opinion

1. I think NFL players have been bracing themselves for this moment. I commend him for being brave in the beginning of his journey. He is not the first gay player (just the first to openly say so) and he won't be the last!

2. If he does make it on a team. I hope that Sam does not take the "rookie hazing" personally or that veterans do not use the "rookie hazing" to bully him because he's gay.

3. With the mediocre performance of majority of most NFL players this past season. Who cares about a players sexuality? We need great players. We need strong players. We need Michael Sam.

Many players have thus far taken to Twitter to show support. Read here

Championship Weekend

I was miserable NE Patriots did not win. I was of course upset but my first love is football then the Patriots. Broncos did well as always.

The San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks game was the best. Close and unpredictable. Which is how I love my football games.

I am looking forward to watching the Super Bowl.

I have a few rules for watching football with me. You might have some too. Be sure to tell me your football rules.

Purple Weapons Football Review - Week 16

Of course I went to Tilted Kilt in Jersey City to watch some of the games!

Surprisingly there were other Pats fans! Yay! But to start my Sunday; of course my news feed and posts were filled with people who just wanted the Patriots to lose. Well Ha! We won by a landslide!

Weird Fact for this week: Every team that scored only 13 points LOST!

Now lets talk about the Buffalo Bills - Miami Dolphins game; The Bills won and the Dolphins laid an egg. But what's intriguing is the little issue on the field. Official tossed wide receiver Robert Woods from the game in the third quarter after he threw a punch at the Dolphins safety Reshad Jones at the bottom of a pile.
Dude you need to get your anger in check and work on your professionalism.

The Indianapolis Colts vs Chiefs games... This is what baffles me with the Colts like all the time. They will beat a really good team and lose to some mediocre shitty team.

The Philadelphia Eagles won in their game against Chicago Bears, I honestly have issues with them (Eagles)... They need to bring that A game ALL the time. I feel like they don't and it pisses me off!

Scores This Week:
+New England Patriots 41+Baltimore Ravens 7
+Minnesota Vikings 14 - +Cincinnati Bengals 42
+Miami Dolphins 0 - +Buffalo Bills 19
+Indianapolis Colts 23+Kansas City Chiefs 7

+Cleveland Browns 13 - +New York Jets 24
+New Orleans Saints 13 - +Carolina Panthers 17
+Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13 - +St. Louis Rams 23
+Dallas Cowboys 24+Washington Redskins 23

+Atlanta Falcons 24 - +San Francisco 49ers 34

Football News #1: Brandon Browner Suspended

So there is another suspension for drug abuse.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner has been suspended indefinitely for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

I wonder what f**king drugs he was doing and most of all why?? Seahawks are doing great! Like dude you don't play for the Giants or the Jaguars or some other shit team.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports per a source.

Purple Weapons Football Review - Week 15

I'm sitting at the bar watching the game. (In my #12 New England Jersey) I was alone and someone was sitting beside me but when I got seated he was in the bathroom. That someone was wearing a Dolphins Jersey. I think he strategically placed his ass next to me. He could have switched seats! My team lost to the stupid Dolphins. Extremely annoyed!

The Chargers however who I picked for the Office pool won; kicked the Broncos ass. Happy about that. They are great but that doesn't mean I'm compelled to even like them. That's my feelings on that.

The 49ers touchdown was hilarious!  Dude ran into the wall and seemed totally out of it. I thought he was going to get up,  turn around and start dancing.  That shit did not happen. They won anyway.

So while in the bar Tilted Kilt. Awesome bar for watching football.  $2.50 Domestic Pints. Part of a Sunday Funday thing. Guy states the Giants game was trash. They were just getting in from the game at Metlife Stadium. But of course I had to respond.  "Did you expect it to be good?" This Giants suck and the Seahawks are a hell of a team. I don't have to tell you that they had their asses handed to them. Not a single point was made.

The Eagles - Vikings Game.... That was a lot of points.  Too bad they are both full of shit teams. I don't even know WHY the Eagles were on the cover of this months issue of Sports Illustrated really.  I dont. I don't hate the Eagles by the way; I'm just getting sick of being disappointed by them.

This picture pretty much sums it up for the Cowboys game.

So the Saints lost to the Rams. Wasn't that shocking. The Saints are great at disappointing their fans.  What was a shock though, The Bengals - Steelers game.
